I. Project Background

Recently, Landelion was entrusted with an urgent request to provide simultaneous interpretation (SI) and escort interpretation services for the strategic cooperation signing ceremony between WeiGao Group and Sleepnet. The client required top-tier Chinese-English SI and escort interpretation for the event, which was scheduled to take place in Weihai, Shandong, with only three days’ notice. Despite the tight timeline and limited equipment availability, our team responded swiftly, implementing a highly professional and customized service plan to ensure the smooth execution of the event.

II. Service Content

Provided two experienced Chinese-English SI interpreters to manage the interpretation needs during the conference and signing ceremony.

Provided one Chinese-English escort interpreter to assist senior executives and foreign clients in face-to-face business communications.

III. Project Difficulties and Solutions

During the project, Landelion’s team encountered several significant challenges, which we effectively addressed with efficient and precise solutions:

1. Unclear Initial Requirements: As this was the client’s first collaboration with us, their initial requests for interpretation services were vague, particularly concerning the differences between SI and escort interpretation and their respective applications.

Solution: Landelion’s account manager engaged in detailed communication to clarify the client’s needs. We explained the differences and appropriate scenarios for each service, ensuring the client had a comprehensive understanding. This led to clear service requirements from the client, allowing us to tailor a precise service plan for the smooth execution of the interpretation work.

2. Tight Timeline: The client contacted us just three days before the event, leaving us with a very short window to arrange interpreters, equipment, and other coordination tasks.

Solution: Landelion immediately activated our Global Professional Talent Pool (GPTP) to quickly identify experienced interpreters in Weihai and surrounding areas. After rapid screening and communication, we secured seasoned Chinese-English SI and escort interpreters from Qingdao, Shandong. The client was highly satisfied with the interpreters’ credentials and confirmed promptly. Our team efficiently managed personnel scheduling and service confirmation through emergency coordination and internal and external communication, significantly enhancing collaboration efficiency.

3. Equipment Shortage: The supply of SI equipment in Weihai and nearby areas was extremely limited, especially during the peak conference season.

Solution: Recognizing the equipment shortage, Landelion initiated an equipment allocation plan. Initially, we considered sourcing SI equipment from other regions, but transportation delays posed a risk, and express delivery could not guarantee timely arrival. Equipment from Shanghai could not reach the site within the specified timeframe. Instead, we proposed using tour guide equipment as an alternative. Although smaller and easier to operate, tour guide equipment offered slightly lower sound quality compared to SI equipment but still met the client’s needs.

However, tour guide equipment was also scarce in Weihai. After extensive efforts, we finally sourced additional tour guide equipment from Xi’an. Finally, Landelion staff personally transported the equipment from Xi’an to Weihai to ensure timely delivery and readiness for the event.

IV. Project Outcomes

Despite facing multiple challenges, Landelion delivered professional and flexible solutions, ensuring the smooth execution of the WeiGao Group and Sleepnet strategic cooperation signing ceremony. The client expressed high satisfaction with our services, particularly praising our equipment allocation, time coordination, and interpretation quality.
